Is my bird nest coral dying or is that new growth?
Green to white . It’s just the top that’s white

I see what appear to be polyps on the white tip.

If that bird’s nest is close to the lights, and getting high PAR, it could be burnt-tip syndrome.

If you have high PAR, keep your Alk below, say 11 dKH.

If I’m miss-seeing it, then it could be STN (slow tissue necrosis). In that case, the white will move progressively down the branch and you need to snip it off (including some good tissue).

If the colored tissue slowly moves up, but the branch gets longer and remains white, then it is likely “burnt tips” phenomena.

How old is the system?
What else is in the system (corals, fish)?
How long has specimen been in the tank?
Did you dip the specimen before placing it in the aquarium.
