Hi all

I purchased this Birdsnest (I think that’s what it’s called) coral about a month ago
.
Color has gone from it except for remote pink at the tips and some light green.

You can’t really see it in the pics.
All The other coral seem fine for the time being.

wondering if I should keep this thing for a while longer or is it time to 86 it?

Can you post a zoomed photo?

From the pics you’ve posted it doesn’t look bleached, it looks well and truly dead.

Based on the pointy ends at the branches it looks like a coral skeleton - no polyps or branches.

Maybe mostly dead like in princess bride lol

Maybe.

Hard to tell for sure if you’re looking at the skeleton here or just very thin skin and fully retracted polyps. Have you seen the polyps out?

Zoomed in the polyps should look like this when out, even if bleached - they’d just be white:

Then I’d say she’s dead…😞

Thanks again I guess I’ll 86 it
Get a second opinion before flushing…

If it is, for the next one IMO try acclimating it to the tank in relatively low light - down on the sand and then move it up to stress it less while getting used to the tank.

I don’t think it’s dead. You can still see polyps. Yours is a ponap birdsnest and it has less polyp extension naturally than the one given as an example. It’s stressed…. Not dead
!!

Ah - I’ve only ever seen the ones like I posted. Hmmm.. good to get second opinions then.

I still see green flesh in your pictures. It’s alive. Let it settle in and it should pull through. Birds nests are tough corals. I would remove the single bubble algae underneath it though.
Thank you…good eye!

I’ll do it… should I flick it off and let it hit bottom or use the tweezers and get it out?
