I just started all this seven months ago

While I have you, a question about water test-

I’ve got two cube tanks dumping into a single sump container. That’s where I’ve been checking the water parameters

Should I be checking each display tank instead?

If it’s all one connected system it doesn’t matter which one you test.

Agree. If all the water is circulated through same system it wouldn’t matter.
Also forgot to mention that birds nest like flow so that may help with it recovering.
Don’t blast it but good random flow.

Yours can be saved. My birds nest prefer lower light and med flow.

I’ll keep an eye and if it slowly gets worse instead of better.… I guess I’ll try and lower it.

The store I got it from, it was about the same height from the top of the water, but with no lid, and a series of EM XR 30’s above it.

Here I have acrylic lid, and a low rent Smat farm light (90w gen5),
so I thought I should at least put it at the same height

Go figure

Doesn't seem to be much water movement in the tank, perhaps consider to add a powerhead or two.

Here's a bleached bird with some aome dead tips. Starting to color back up slowly. It was part of the colony of this and got upset in a different tank.

Yeah, that’s pretty much how mine looks

I took most advice and moved it down a few inches to see if that’ll give it a break

Hi all

I purchased this Birdsnest (I think that’s what it’s called) coral about a month ago
.
Color has gone from it except for remote pink at the tips and some light green.

You can’t really see it in the pics.
All The other coral seem fine for the time being.

wondering if I should keep this thing for a while longer or is it time to 86 it?

I see this often with too much light, high alk and even calcium and high phosphates. Mine likes subtle water flow

On Saturday alkalinity was 8.6
Nitrate, 4.4
Phosphate.09

If accurate- good numbers. Is flow high ?

I’m not sure of accuracy.

On Thursday-
Alk- 8.3
Nitrate- 4.6
Phosphate.05

So certainly a difference from Saturday.
Using Hanna testers

I don’t think it’s in a very high flow area, but there is “some” flow

How long might I expect for this thing to recover ar bounce back?

Depends on your system really. There are a lot of factors. Also what may help is an overnight Amino dip in a separate container. Florida aquarium talks about this in their coral restoration efforts.
