I picked up some new fish "Yellow Tang, Bristletooth Tang, Melaranus Wrasse, and 2 PJ Cardinals" last weekend and have had them in the QT since bringing them home. Yesterday I noticed that the Yellow Tang has what looks like black ich. I have never dealt with this stuff before and I'm wondering how to beat it? They are all in a 45g QT tank without sand or rock so I can medicate with no problems.

I would treat it just like any other ich. Treat with either hypo or copper.

I would do hypo … also if you don't mind adding another fish, I'd add a neon goby in there; I'm 100% sure that our tang would not have survived if he didn't have the neon goby in there. The neon goby kept him clean while going through hypo …

Whats everyone run the SG at for Hypo?

Coming from someone who just got done with hypo, it needs to be at 1.08 to 1.09. I've also heard that if you go above 1.10 than the clock starts over.

Need to run hypo for 8 weeks minimum.

I'm half tempted to single out the wrasse and cardinals and put them in another tank, they don't show any signs of ich at all. Nether does the Bristletooth but I wanna be sure on him.

Black ich is caused by a turbellarian worm. It can easily be treated with Prazipro.
