I know fish prices have gone a tad crazy this year, but the black tang is insane. DD has one for $1,750. Used to be black and gem were about the same, in the $700 range. Anyone know why? Scarcity clearly, but why.

They come from the Christmas Isles. The isles are closed due to the current pandemic, so a lot less entering the market.

LA is pretty expensive for most fish compared to other venders. You can probably get it cheaper elsewhere.

Ive seen $800 in Chicago
Supply and demand affects price plus down deep where they are, hard to detect as a black tang
