Black & white percula?

Is there such a thing or are all B&W clowns ocellaris? I am planning to have a b&w pair and want to know what I am looking for. From what I have read I think I would prefer true perculas as the are smaller when grown.

Could you clown experts chime in please? Or am I way off base?

There is no such thing as a B/W Percula. They are Occellaris. However, there are other Black and White Clownfish, such as some Saddle Backs, Latz, etc.

Thank you! I have seen them listed as both, but had a feeling that was the case. I really like the Saddle backs as well. Do you know if they stay smaller than the Occellaris?

I'm pretty sure that the saddlebacks are about the same size as the Occellaris, at least all the ones I have seen are. They are some sweet looking fish!

And does anybody know about agression? Are the Saddlebacks less agressive/territorial than the ocellaris? I have heard those can be terrors!

Saddlebacks typically grow larger, and can get more aggressive, than Occellaris. I think what a lot of people fail to take into consideration is, Clown Fish are Damsels. Damsels are evil...lol. Most clown fish are capable of being very aggressive.

You'll see a lot of B/W Occellaris that are "called" B/W percs, or B/W "false" percs. This drives me NUTS. There's also no such animal as a "false percula," it's an occellaris...lol.

I hate misidentification as well. It is one of my pet peeves. Call a thing what it is.

I know clowns are very closely related to damsels... but they are so dang cute the way the wiggle. ;) But I have seen them while diving and they will try to chase you away. Not scared at all.

Do you think a pair of b/w occellaris would "own" a 45 cube? I am not planning on having an anemone, but hoping to have a neon green leather they will find acceptable to host in. Also planning to add them last and as juveniles.

if you do it this way you will have no problems.

yeah saddlebacks get larger than ocellaris or percula
in terms of a black and white perc, the closest youll get to that would be an onyx perc but theres still some orange in there just not as much
if youre looking for a smaller b/w clown the then ocellaris is your best bet
