Blasto breaking off and going on its own?

Hey all, found a section of blasto floating around my tank last night. Scooped him up- figured it broke off by a crab or something. Thing is, it seemed really healthy and it had an opening in the middle. Glued it onto a frag just to see what would happen and it looks to still be doing well. Am I crazy to think it might end up thriving on its own?

A similar thing happened to mine when I accidentally smashed it with a rock while reshaping.

It has since recovered and a new polyp is growing where it detached. They don't seem to need much skeleton!

Ignore the sand; taken back when I was battling dinos. It's still alive and happy months later. :)

thats pretty normal, blastos are tough. when mine overgrow the plate they are on sometimes the seem to grow out with very little skeleton and then often get detached and i find them on the bottom of the tank somewhere, then glue them to a plug.
