Bleached SPS ... What to do?

Hi guys ... this is what happened ...

2 weeks ago ... got this BEAUTIFUL purple SPS. :D Placed prize SPS at top of reef structure, as I was told that this needs lots of light. (1st mistake ... did not slowly adjust light levels.)

1 week ago ... PVC dropped off, and 15% of water drained off ... Calcium Reactor became very cloudy. :( Dismentaled and flushed out the calcium reactor. So, it was off line for about 12 hrs. During this time, KH dropped from 12 to 9. Next day, KH raised up to 10. Lucky for me, everything seems OK. :D (2nd mistake ... big flux in KH.)

3 days ago ... Just this SPS bleached, obviously due to stress from the above events. All other SPS are OK. Now, this is moved down to my sandbed.

Today ... after 3 days, it has NOT bleached even more. Seems to have stabilised ... I hope!!!

Guys, what should I do??? Should I dose something, like Vitamine C (helps recovery??) or Iodine (makes it less photo-sensitive??)???

id personally let it alone. do your normal routine. it will come back in time.. just not over night.

i'd leave it alone also. it will either make it or it wont. however in my experience when mine look that color they usually dont make it. only time will tell

It looks like a wild colony to me.

It also looks like it was receding and already havign some issues in the first pic.

Wild colonies are tough, and the circumstances you describe is pretty commonplace with or without uyour own personal issues happening....especially since it was already having issues of its own before you got it.

they will typically lose most color and it will take 6-12 mo's or so to get it back...or at least get a nice color back, and manuy times will need fragged up within the first couple of months trying to save a few pieces.

Unless the recession has absolutely stoppped, which from here it looks unlikely that is the case.......i strongly disagree that doing nothing is the course of action you should ake. Watching it die is well....watching it die. IIf the recesssion gets anyworse cut it. Cut off every piece possibel that is healthy and remount to rubble. Cut well into the remaining healthy tissue and use superglue gel to mount to the rubble and make sure all open cuts are sealed with glue.

I would cut it as well, in my experience with wild colonies they usually recede or bleach. I usually end up having to cut the remaining tissue to get them to survive. I would defnitiely follow fly guy's advice.
