+1 Alk Kelby i keep mine at 9 or 10 i have found in my 240 that and even without dosing alk will rise very slowly. I would do small WC or two over a week and a half and keep testing. I test my alk and Calcium more than any thing. Also you said nitrates =0 are u sure ? IMO u need a small amount of nitrates My nitrates run between 15-20ppm all the time

Did you spike your Alk? That may be what is happening. Happened to me last year when my phosphates jumped up and growth stopped, but I kept dosing the same. I almost crashed the tank.

Lost several pieces and burnt several tips of others.

check your phosphates with a hanna checker, not a test kit.

So, I agree that your Alk is probably the reason, but phosphates are probably the cause.

They will grow back over the algae. It looks weird, as it is balled up a bit.

Definitely get the swings under control.

How much are you dosing daily into what volume of water?

Might also consider matching your water change water as close to your display tank as possible if you are doing large water changes.

small water changes are beneficial because I'm not changing anything quickly, but am doing a large enough percentage monthly that it keeps my parameters very low. My nitrates are 2-5 and my phosphates are 0 according to my hanna handheld meter.
