I have bought two blue hippo tangs and the first one I took back to the store and then passed now I have one that has been in the tank 3-4 days and it’s following the same pattern as the first one expect the first one habituated the tank for 3 weeks and the current one today woke up with no balance it’s still alive and breathing but I don’t think with how much it has worsen it will survive long unless I can find a remedy. I’m very desperate any information will help.

How are you acclimating fish and for how long?
What is age of tank and what is your:
Ammonia
Ph
Nitrate
Salinity
Tank temperature?

what test kits are you using?

I’m suspecting water quality issue from ammonia, low salinity…. Or introduction method

Hob filter is a means of mechanical filtration in which you’re lacking chemical and biological filtration making need for more frequent maintenance
Again, How are you acclimating fish and for how long?

You’ll never be able to keep a hippo tang alive and happy long term in a 20 gallon tank. I wouldn’t try one in my 150 gallon. Take ‘Dory’ back to the store and do more research on the fish you want for your tank.

the reason I asked about test kits were your zero readings and I suspected API which is notorious for false readings and have let down many reefers hence the low price for a master kit. Your numbers are likely higher. I generally encourage those with API kits to take a water sample to a trusted LFS that does NOT use API kits for testing and see what readings they come up with. You'll be likely surprised.
