As of 2 days ago, our puffer has not been eating and seemed lethargic. Yesterday he was laying down on the sandbed (holding himself upright) and we tried doing a dose of KanaPlex for him in a separate container with an air pump and heater. However, today he seems much worse and is bumping into things when he’s swimming and I saw him swimming vertically, which makes me concerned he may have some bouyancy issues also. Additionally, I noticed today one of his eyes is cloudy and he seems to have maybe injured it, and one of his fins seems slightly off as well.

I called a vet who specializes in marine fish and he recommended avoiding bringing him in to not cause further stress as he doesn’t seem too strong. He also said to try KanaPlex every other day, so skip today, and try tomorrow instead (hopefully he’s still alive by then). I’m at a bit of a loss here and the rapid deterioration is highly concerning. We really love this little guy, and any help would be appreciated. All other fish seem fine so it appears to be an isolated issue.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Can you post a clear video under white light? I need to assess its breathing rate. Hosting on YouTube works if you can’t post directly here on the site.
