So I have a 55 gallon mixed reef tank, 2 years established. I have 8 fish, including a mated pair of snowflake clowns, a pair of blue green chromis, a Midas Blenny, a diamond watchman goby, a Coral Beauty, and a Six Line Wrasse. I am tempted as heck to get a blue spotted Jawfish, but worried about overstocking my tank. What do you think? Can my tank handle it? I don't have a sump, but have an HOB filter and a Fluval canister filter which I clean religious every Saturday, and I have a AquaMaxx HOB-1 protein skimmer. What say you?

That’s a lot of fish for a 55. I think you need a second tank or an upgrade on tank size. The watchman will get up to 6 inches. In my opinion it’s not the filtration but space issues.

I think your fine. All fish you have now are small. How are your current nutrient levels? Also I have a blue spot jawfish and it is a big time jumper. I'd make sure you have a lid or canopy.
