I was weary of getting a blue streaked cleaner wrasse and started a thread also about 5- 6 months ago,but got one and doing well, cleans a few fish ( coral beauty, copperband, silver belly wrasse ywg,and 1 blenny, other fish won't let him " clean" he also eats the small bits of clams I cut slivers/ diced which floats in the water and he gets lots the little bits what other fish seem to leave but started feeding clams/ oysters/ scallops because got copperband but it's one of main feed that feed 2- 3 times daily and all fish and cuc love it
I just tried clams in the shell. Snails and shrimp loved it. Fish wouldn't touch it. I'm going to try cutting them up next.

Yeah I tried leaving it on shell and cbb and wrasse and coral beauty picked at it but noticed alot went to waste but now I cut it in slivers and very small pieces that can eat and even feed cbb from tweezers and will try in future from my hands and rest of fish get what floats away as main concern is keeping cbb well fed in my tank anyway ^_^

Good luck

My LFS had one for $18 and I just couldn't pass him up. He blends in perfectly with my other wrasses in my tank. I know these fish are typically very difficult to care for and don't do well in tanks.

Anyone had success with one in your tank? Any suggestions on how to best care for him? He did not seem interested in pellets or flakes but was pecking pods all day from the rocks and glass. Hopefully he will eat some frozen tomorrow. He did try and clean some fish in the tank also.

I don't think I have the fish size and capacity to let him rely on his natural diet instincts alone so going to use the suggestions from posters to supplement his food intake. Strangely right now he is chomping on GHA so may try some nori next for him.

Glad you started this thread. Thank you.. I bought 2 large cleaner wrasse 2 days ago. So far, they seem to love frozen mysis. I have 4 large tangs that they will hopefully clean. I saw one wrasse rubbing against my sailfin tang today. I guess he was testing the waters. Lol

Hard at work on me, my guy is close to 4 years old now. He will eat frozen mysis, small pellets and small flake. When I throw in a treat of LRS, he gets into the thick of it.

My bigger fish, will line up for cleaning as you can see. They all enjoy the party, lol.

Thought I would update this. The little guy is doing great eating frozen very well. Pretty much every fish in the tank let's him nibble on scales to so hopefully he is getting his nutrients there also.

I know it’s about the blue streak however, I can’t help but keep looking at the I assume K. hectori in the front, he’s beautiful.

Thank you, an amazing Petco find. The fangtooth blenny has acclimated very well also and is eating well and swimming naturally. He is really cool the way he strikes at food when he is eating.

How is the Blue Streak doing? Ive had mine for about a year now. One of the most active fish in my tank.

As others have said it is my understanding that the Slime coat, mucos along with ectoparasites are an important part of their diet. Mine also eats the same LRS, vitamin soaked pellets and "clam mash" (that I make) just as all my fish do. And like posted above he is the first fish to greet my hand every time I stick it into the tank. My two cleaner shrimp do the same thing. Most of my larger fish will occasionally let him take a few nibbles. Any new fish added to the tank is instantly given the once over by the Blue Streak as if he thinks he might get to taste of something new.

One odd thing is he will occasionally swim very erratically for no reason. Lats just seconds and then its behavior as usual. Anyone else see theirs do this?

Interesting, mine gets that purple tint also when he gets excited and does do occasional erratic swimming too. So far he eats all the frozen I put in the tank and tries to clean every fish in the tank but with minimal success. I hope he continues to be healthy.
