I am getting my bluespot jawfish today. I have the entire aquarium covered with a custom netting. The top is very light though and there are small 1/8 inch cracks along the border. This isn't enough for the jawfish to fit through but im afraid that with some force he might be able to pop up the lid.

Do you think a jawfish is powerful enough to create an 1/8" hole to a 1/2" hole just by hitting it?

nope.. but Murphy can be a jerk...

if the netting isnt in the water no.. if it is with enough determination i could possibly squeeze trough..

well if its over the water (not in) when he jumps he wont have a medium (i.e water) to keep his momentum or to apply force so i'm sure you're ok...

I'd be a little concerned about an escape along the rim, although it is probably unlikely. Looks to be a pretty good cover to me.

I would maybe consider putting some paperweights at the corners or using velcro to keep the lid attached to the tank so there is no chance of it being pushed off.

Thank you for your replies! I have a few unused bulkheads on there right now. Im contemplating taking some thin acrylic and epoxying it to the bottom of the lid and match the sides to eliminate that risk. Do you think he could make his way through the filter? thats the largest gap but it is a wierd angle and would take some serious work to get through there.

Do you mean the large open space in picture 3 with the filter?

yes... the water rushes out of there... there is no trajectory that can directly land him on the floor lol... he would have to dart up there and then find another way to dart out...
