Took this sunday to pull my skimmer out and give it a deep cleaning, its been getting noisy and hasnt been performing as well lately.

Also decided to tear down the left side rock structure and rebuild it with some more room for SPS up top. The current configuration had the torch in position to sting anything I put up there. And I still had to place my Bonsai Acro and some new frags I picked up this weekend, a Purple Stylo and a different strain of birdsnest.

I also got around to installing my dosing pump. Things have been doing really well lately on a 30ml dose daily of calcium and alkalinity. So figured it was time to automate things so I dont forget to dose the tank.

Here are some photos

Progress picture of my grafted monti that I rescued from a friend.

6 months later it has colored back up and has put on some nice growth. It is becoming one of my favorite pieces in the tank!

what are your feeding plans for the shrimp? i love those guys

I have an asterina star population that it is going to feast on. After that I will have to trade him to another reefer in need because I am not down with the chopping off of chocolate chip starfish legs to feed the shrimp. So I will only keep him until his job is done then he will go to a new home.

Yeah that sounds good. Try to get a estimate of how many he eats in a day.

I'm curious haha
Thats going to be tough, the asterinas mainly come out at night from what ive seen. Or atleast thats when I find them munching my zoas anyway. They are pretty camoflauged but it got old trying to pick out 15+ stars out of the rock crevices with tweezers nightly haha.

I will try and keep you updated on how the shrimp does though. I have a lot of micro brittle stars too which I enjoy but those are probably on his menu too lol.

It should come in the mail today so we shall see!

The teal candy cane has been pulling out some oranges and is looking awesome. I dont think I have seen one with this coloring. Hopefully it keeps coloring up this way.

This past week I have added a file fish to help with the Aiptasia outbreak that has been getting out of hand, as well as 4 peppermint shrimp. fingers crossed this time.

Also added an Icecap 3K gyre, this thing RIPS. I can not turn it up past 20% or it starts ripping my mushrooms off the rock. but the increased flow is incredible my SPS really enjoy it.

Now that I have my Aiptasia Army deployed into the tank, its time to move onto the next thing thats been ticking me off. THE BRYOPSIS. It has been a constant battle of manual removal for too long. Pretty much since ive had the 75 set up. So today we are going to be dosing Fluconazole to hopefully rid us of the bryopsis.

I am a bit nervous because everything is growing well and doing awesome. But fact is I have a full frag rack and no real estate to plant my frags because the bryopsis is taking up most of the availible rock.

I am using reef flux fluconazole and here are some before shots so I can document how well this goes.

Time to report back, I finished the 3 week Fluconazole treatment and can say that this stuff works miracles. It has elimininated 100% of the bryopsis. Here are some comparison shots
