Bought a used tank, is this stand missing a support?

So I got this tank set up the other day, and looking at it, it only has a center brace across the top. I haven't put the tank on yet, but the center brace is higher then the sides.

Looks like the sides are missing the support pieces of wood. Any ideas?
Or am I just crazy

The tank will sit on the top rim of the stand not "inside" the stand. Looks like a typical factory built stand.
What size tank?

What's the dimensions of the tank (outer edge)? Also what are the dimensions or the stand

It's a standard 4ft 90gal.

Ok, I have a 55, which has the two outside braces and no middle. That's why I didn't know. Doesn't the tank sit down in it with the wood trim around it? I'm not near it now but I thought is sat inside the rim.

No, it sits on top of the stand

Incorrect, it goes on the inside and like he mentioned, the trim is on the outside of the bottom

I'm looking at a stand just like it at petsmart right now and you are correct

By looking at it, the first stand build looks like it's an aqueon stand, their brand tank sits on top. The last pic (from petsmart) is marineland brand theirs sits on the inside ledge.

For my tank to sit inside the trim, which it should, it would theoretically only sit on the highest point, which is the center piece. A tank can't Teter on a center brace

Yes there was a lip on either side at the same height as the center brace. It most definitely cannot sit on the trim... the weight would break it. The only thing holding that up is nails

Thanks! I'm just going to remove the middle brace and put a sheet of 3/4 ply, and brace all 4 corners and center with a 2x4.

I myself would get the lumber for both sides to raise it up to center brace height and then run plywood across that for a flat top.

Yes that's the plan, I don't hate the look of these stands, but idk how they even hold tanks when there Brand new.

My bad....my bow front stand is built the same way and my tank sits on top of the stand not inside the trim

I have the same stand for 75g tank and the tank sits on top of the edge, not on the inside.

I agree, it goes on the top edge. Really should be measured to verify that. I've never seen a stand where the tank would sit inside with the trim that high. Personally, I would beef it up before using it because I am paranoid that way. That said, it will probably be fine. Wood can hold much more weight than people give it credit for.

Problem is, wood isnt holding it. If the tank was placed on top of that trim that is being supporting by nothing but staples, it wouldnt be there for long.
