BPC Flamethrower and Tyree Pink Advice needed

My FT receded and I noticed dark spots with dark stringy things attached to them. I dipped in Luogol's and coral RX and things seem to be stabilized but I noticed a dark spot on it in the pic. Is this brown jelly or something else? Should I frag that receded part?
I noticed the Tyree Pink has a hole. Doesn't look like something burned it. Any pests that could possibly cause this? Should I dip the Pink? All other chalices are fine. Thanks in advance.

I don't see any brown jelly or anything wrong from the pictures but I definitely see that whole in the watermelon. More importantly is what your numbers are? Can you post those? Alk issues are usually the culprit.

Thanks Frank for the reassurance. It looks like an eye was suppose to be where that hole is. I'll check my parameters and post them shortly. I haven't tested in a while

Do you mean sudden Alk fluctuations? I'm using a dosing pump so I assume there hasn't been any sudden drastic changes. I had temperature fluctuations not too long ago. The FT is a hard coral to keep

It's been a very easy one for me to keep actually but I dose manually and test twice a month. Striped chalices and zoas/palys are the ones that give me trouble :( It could be alk swings, salinity, temp, low mag., ph Those are the usual culprits when it comes to receding or chalices dying. I'd check and test all of them a few times over the next couple of weeks and write down the numbers. Also changing out bulbs or putting in a new lighting system. adding any chemical media can disturb the balance in a tank and affect growth and stability. It's a process of elimination and hopefully you'll catch what's wrong before you see any more receding. Good luck.

Probably temp swings since you mentioned it. Alk: Low 8 (API) Ca: 450 (Salifert) Mg: 1400 (Salifert) Sa: 1.025.

I have another question. How do I get the blue lines? or is that just a lighting thing and it's actually grey? Higher lighting or lower lighting? Par range is 60-80 for the FT

Higher lighting brings out the stripes. It looks like your watermelon lost an eye. Do you have any crabs in your tank?

Thanks CJO for your input. I have an electric blue hermit and he has been a model citizen for a long time. He likes climbing on my sps. Hopefully he has developed an appetite for pests. I also have a peppermint shrimp which may more likely be the culprit but my aiptasia are pretty much gone. Hasn't gotten worse. If it does I may have to dose interceptor to get rid of him or add a non-reef safe wrasse

I have lots of spaghetti worms in my sand bed. could that be the culprit? It may have been a clump of salt that accidently fell into the tank

I have mine about 20 inches from a 5 bulb HO t5 , mine is more on the reddish pink side. I have seen that alk does influence it . Below is a pic.

Mine is at a par of 100 . I do feed it once a week rods food. Alk 8.4- 9.4

Here is my Tyree Pink. I don't know the PAR it is at but It's about 20" below my 250W Phoenix 14k Halide. So I'm sure it gets a good amount of light.

My Alk is 9 and Mg is 1550

Awesome. really like the rim of these wm. Mine's the same size as yours Dave. Why does yours and fisttime's look more solid pink or is that due to the range of the shot? The difference in par seems negligible with firsttime's. My Bazooka is more soloid pink looking though and it's right next to it

I'm not sure why. I had it down a little lower when I first got it and the pink was not as bright. I moved it up, but only about 5 ", and it really brightened up and turned a more solid pink. Also I have been running my Mg really high for the last 8 months or so and the colors of ALL of my chalices are getting better. To me anyway. I'm not saying thats what is causing it but I don't want to lower it and find out. LOL.
