I noticed my new brain coral has like these opens in the middle of the green part is it dying? I just picked it up 2 days ago

I believe your referring to the mouth of the coral . You can feed these guys and the slit in the middle is the opening (mouth) where they take in food .

Without a full tank shot and par readings, nobody can really tell you if you've placed it well for your tank.

Growth speed depends on many factors like light, flow, nutrients, stability, parameters.
