Branches on maxima clam

Does anyone know what these branches are growing on my maxima clam? Hardest spot to take a photo so these are the best for now.

Are they soft or hard? Look like some type of sponge if they are soft. If the clam is on a rock that can be moved you could take it out and scrape them off to be safe.

Clams are like live rock , you can take it out and pluck them off if you like , eventually you’ll see all sorts of things growing on the clam shell.
