My gsp has completely covered the small rock I have it on and is now growing “limbs” I guess (not indovual polyp tubes) out of itself. Is this what the branching variety does? Like the purple mat has little trees or purple with multiple polyps on it growing off it.

This is the kind of thing it’s been growing off the rock it’s on. There’s the flat purple mat then a bunch of these growing off it. It’s 3x the size of the actual rock. It’s growing out from the rock in all directions.

Mine does that, too. It is the typical plating gsp. It grows off the rock it’s on in ‘plates’ like that. I slice them off and glue them to the back wall or frag plugs.
I’ve been doing the same. It’s growing vertical though. Idk how to keep it under control other than slicing chunk off

Mine reaches up, too. I always just trim it because I’m scared a flap will flap right off and get stuck in an unseen piece of rock and start a stronghold where I don’t want it. Fortunately I know a local guy who wants it for tank installs.
