Branching hammer and acan

I recently had a huge shipment come in full of vast majorities of different corals. I’m currently overstocked in my tank until my 20 gallon frank tank is cycled. I have had my branching hammer in lowish flow and moderate lighting for months. My wall hammer is perfect and thriving right next to it. I did just add a wavemaker that hits the opposite side of the tank but gives me a little flow. The branching hammer seems to be super irritated and not fully retracted but semi retracted. I have dipped it in revive and watched closely for worms/bugs/etc and don’t see anything but copeopods. I’m just wondering what’s going on because they used to be large and prosperous and now they seem sick. I’m attaching a picture of my branching hammer 2 weeks ago. I’ll grab a picture tomorrow when my lights are on. I’m worried and have had this guy for months on end.

Well if it was doing good before the wave maker and addition of corals something must have irritated it during that. I would probably turn off the new wave maker for a few days and see if it turns around.

Problem is, I don’t have the flow for my torches without the wavemaker, and my frag tank won’t be ready for a couple of weeks! I moved him to lower flow but it’s still barely wanting to eat and small

Leave it alone. As long as the water parameters don’t change it will adjust to the new flow. They’re finicky like that. It will take a few days and as long as the flow isn’t blasting them they will adjust to the new pattern and open up again. Anytime I mess with the flow in my tank (clean the pumps, accidentally point in a different direction, etc..) my hammers and frogspawn act like spoiled children and close up half way. Depending on how drastic the flow pattern changed it’ll take from two to four days for them to reopen fully. They don’t move around in nature, light might change (clouds, weather), flow might change (seasons), but the water parameters rarely do.
