Ninja throwing star?
Seriously, could it be a Tunicate? It seems to be in a spot one would find that or a sponge.

It’s not a sea squirt unfortunately, looked from the side and it’s completely flat, not tubes.

I can’t get good pics cause of all of the microbubbles.

Whatever it is has potential polyps extended on the sides of each blade.

Each blade tip has a little blue line.

Update on 2 part dosing: whatever is in these bottles my tank NEEDED. More
Polyp extension on my sps than I’ve ever seen, my Burnin Banana frag has grown overnight, my zoas and acans have significantly better color, and have immediately starting growing multiple new heads.

i was really nervous to dose anything when I first started out, but so far this seems like something I should have been doing a long time ago.

Excellent news! I’m sure your calcium and alk discrepenay was a product of calcium testers being more inaccurate or a temp difference.

I really wish I could help with an ID but I've got nothing on this one ...

What dosing provides that you may not have had before is stability. And I don't mean just the big 3, other trace elements play a crucial roll in stability as well.

I tested at 78.3 degrees, twice. Got the same result with Salifert. (I’m at 1.026 salinity) Had previously only been dosing Alk. The bottle claims that it wouldn’t mess with my Ca but I don’t know how that would work.

@JoshH I agree! My guess is Magnesium, it’s something I don’t have a test for and have never added to my water in the past.

It makes me feel bad for the corals when I see all of these people running 0 nitrate and phosphate.

I just don’t get it.
They’d freak out if they saw the pic of my tank I recently posted along with my parameters. My nitrate hovers at 50 & phosphate never gets below .5 but is normally 1 or better

When you’ve got older tanks those parameters are no problems.

I’m a major noob so as always, take nothing I say seriously.

But other noobs I see on here are too aggressive. They do everything to the extreme.

If they see a little gha, they whip out the gfo, vibrant, fluc, massive new cuc addition, etc.

They see nutrient deficiencies, it’s straight to purchasing a doser and dosing stuff like crazy.

I don’t get this stigma around nutrients. My corals look absolutely terrible without phosphates and nitrates. I had to battle hard to raise them and worked hard to ensure my frags had them at all times.

People smh

Look at some of the most beautiful tanks on the forum, they have crazy numbers too. Your tank will let you know if there is a problem.
