Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Regarding the stand, I have seen it done on smaller tanks. As long as your whole bottom is covered you are good I believe. My rimless tank does fit perfect on my stand. It has the rubber leveling mat under it. If your does not have the mat use a yoga mat.

I consider mine fairly light considering the height is only 15".I mean light compared to standard tanks.

BTW, I want a new tank right now so bad. I am designing one in my head along the way with yours. You know thinking like that is a challenge for me. Does Andrew do contract work?

I made the finals once in December, like @sfin52 it made my day when I did. I didn't come close to winning but it was fun either way.

On the stand, yes you can make it over sized, I would do some research because it has to be done right. I'm not good enough to give the advice on how but I know for a fact it can be done. It just has to do with getting the supports in the right spot on the stand and tank. My frag tank breaks all the stand rules. Tank is slightly smaller than the top of the stand. The top of the stand is plywood and it over hangs the stand, I guess I like to take risk.

You can build the stand to the dimentions of the tank, and then use an oversized piece of wood for the top surface area. I would use something like solid oak and not ply... and absolutely run it thru a planer. Tank sits on the most structurally sound part of stand, with oversized rim around tank. Like this...

I agree lol. I'm watching hers and thinking, how much would my little office freshwater planted cost me. It always adds up to more than I want to spend right now. I could make it cheaper but I'm going hi tech over the top planted for the office.

This is my favorite forum, it's a shame there are isn't a fresh water section for builds as well.
I agree but if you ask a freshwater question loads answer.

Big group have lizards as well. Tarantulas not so much. Aragog says hi

those things are the devil, lol. I've got two bearded dragons, and my daughter has a red ear slider. I really just want to do a build thread when I do my office tank.
