Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

Priceless! However, everyone understands the urgency of a pooping emergency!

Sounds like something I would have said.

So my now 25 yo Daughter when she was about 5 we forgot to lock the bedroom door. During a “particularly active mommy/daddy night” we heard from the foot of the bed in her best little “whoville” voice... “if I knew it was a nudey party I would have taken my jammies off too”

Needless to say the door always got locked after that. :/

A friend of mine told me a story about his 5 year old daughter .
One day she came inside to him .she had been playing in the garden with friends....she was crying and very upset ....my friend asked his daughter what was wrong and after some time of sobbing she said she was upset because she had pooped in her panties ....my friend was annoyed and surprised and asked her why she had done it ....her answer was awesome ......she said she pooped her pants because she was having so much fun that she just forgot .......
My friend just laughed he said ....and said to me .....how could I be mad at her ....when was the last time you were having so much fun that you forget you need a poo.......
Kids are the best ....!!!!!

Nice ride! BMW was never really on my radar. I have been a gear head since birth, but it wasn't until I started working at a shop that specializes in BMW'S that I became a fan. They are structurally so well built. 10 to 15 year old beamers still drive and feel like new cars, and their unibody construction is solid though harder to work on.

@Hemmdog are you gonna drill it today?
Still waiting on amazon for my overflow which includes the drill bit. If it comes today I’ll give it a go. Hopefully 7/11 (gas station) has some cheap polarized sunglasses I could get. I feel like I’ve seen them there before and been surprised they had polarized. Ordered the stand last night so that should be here tomorrow.

My main issue now is the sump. I’m having a lot of trouble finding one that would work good for me. My LFS guy has a emerald 24or26 trigger for $150. Ideally I was looking for a 32 or 34 inch long to take up the space under the stand and 14-16inch inch wide.

Now I’m also toying with the grand idea of getting the trigger 34 and putting it on my 90, then putting my current trigger emerald 26 on this new 40b. But the logistics of putting a long sump in a cabinet with a 24inch long door opening seems tricky.

I walk into my basement last week, to see my 65 gallon Reef tank totally cloudy, with water pouring down the ATI T5 fixture into my tank.

There was water on the floor too.

Suddenly, I realized, I can hear my wife plunging the toilet above the tank in the guest bathroom. It overflowed, ran through the floor, and into my tank. Based on the sump height and the water on the floor, I'd estimate at least 8 oz of human feces laden water make its way into my SPS dominant Reef tank. (I went upstairs and saw the water.......it was nearly black with crap.)

I froze, and started to think............WHAT IN GOD's NAME DO I DO?

The skimmer was overflowing........the corals looked like they started to close up, and the tank looked just like.......!!!!!

I immediately thought, run as much carbon as I can ! I took a large filter sock, filled it with BRS Lignite Carbon (because Rox .08 goes through the mesh)........Only in a panic do you realize how dirty the carbon is.....it took a solid 10 minutes of washing to get the water to run clear. In the sump it went.

Then I took out the BRS dual media reactor and filled both chambers with Rox .8 carbon, and got that running.

I had about 25 gallons of RO/DI water in a Rubbermaid can, but it was way too cold, probably 63 degrees. I turned on the RO/DI knowing it would fill the barrel with ~40 gallons by the next day. I put in the appropriate salt, turned on the heater and knew I wouldn't have sufficiently heated Salt water to do a water change, until the following night. (plus I work until 6PM)

The next morning I looked at the tank, with the lights still out, and it looked like it had cleared up somewhat, but really couldn't assess the damage until that night.

During the day, I kept looking at the tank with my Wifi camera and it didn't look like it was crashing, and the fish looked OK.

By the time I got home, the tank looked great ! It was crystal clear, all corals, especially the SPS, looked good.........THANK GOD.

I finally did a 25% water change today, and realized just how lucky I was.

I never, ever , thought my tank would have to endure the filtration of human feces !!!

Well, that's it. I'll do another 25% water change next weekend, but it looks like she survived. It fact, the SPS corals have the best polyp extension, ever !

I am brand new to saltwater. My son got an 8 gallon bio cube. I know this is too small, but I promised I'd try. I have 1 piece of dead coral for decor and that's it. We hope to have 2 tiny fish and maybe 2 shrimp. We also like hermit crabs. What equipment, substrate would you guys suggest? I'd like to use easy (forgiving) live macro algae to help balance this tank. Please be kind with responses. I have been called names elsewhere and was referred here to learn.
Love the tank, thanks for sharing

I would try fresh ocean mud if I could get.

Now, that I might try. But, it would have to be from away from a populated area.

Thanks dude !
