Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

So, @Katrina71 have you ever wondered what will happen when you get over 1,000 pages in your thread? The numbers already won’t fit in the little page boxes at the bottom of each page. You may break the forum! :D This is what it looks like now -

I guess it is good when stuff like this is all that bothers me at the moment. And no, I haven’t broken into the rum. :)

And no sooner than I said I had nothing better to worry about ... I walked in my back room to check on my little nano tank. I was standing there looking in the sump and what was that? That looked like smoke. It is smoke!!

I have a small Innovative Marine Aqua Gadget reactor and the pump wire leading out of the water was smoking! The wire just shorted out and was about to catch fire. Unplugged it and removed it. The wire was above the water line and always has been. It is now in the trash. That would have been nice to have caught the house in fire. Piece of junk! Geez!

Wow! Perfect timing!

Glad you were there

Yesterday I copied @Hemmdog and bought a 40B from petco.
This will be for my soon to be 9 year old daughter.
I just can't decide whether to run my HOB skimmer or drill it and buy overflow and plumb it to a 20 gallon tall sump, that was going to be her DT.

@saf1 I have a CPR bak pak I was given for free, needs a pump. Are there any mods for the CPR bak pak? What media should be ran in it and where? Do I run the heater in it too? I swear I saw somewhere a video or thread of someone running an air stone in there's to help it boost the fine micro bubbles needed to skim? Is the MJ1200 the correct pump?

Drill it. Less long term flooding worries.
Welcome to the 40b club!

I could do that. I bought a used BM curve 5 for my tank so the sca 301 that came with mine could work for my daughter's setup.

Dang I had something similar happen with the pump that came with my 29 Biocube. Luckily I was standing there talking with my son and all of a sudden sparks flames and a loud pop. There was only a devil spawn giant mutant Halloween hermit and a blenny and they both survived but the smell of the burning plastic and electricity was nasty.

I am running an old CPR backpack skimmer too. I read the same mods, but decided that people a lot smarter than me designed the skimmer to work with the Rio 800pt so why screw it up. It works well on my Nano.

If I do decide to drill it, does anyone here have overflow suggestions for a 40B?
I got the eshopps medium. It looks quality. The synergy ones look pretty nice too.
