Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

I like the movie. I wonder if he made the movie today, if he would have included a disclaimer?
Dont get me wrong, it's a GREAT movie. It's just had consequences...

Did y'all see the big beautiful female they have been tracking that is larger than the shark in Jaws? She is amazing.
Deep Blue... yea I've been following her for a while. I'm an old school Discovery Channel fan. Back when everything they had was like a BBC Earth documentary narrated by David Attenborough. Like Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.

Now everything in America has to be a reality show with drama, even the nature stuff. Stop, I'm a animal nerd. I WANT the documentaries.

Me too!

I have all of the BBC Earth Documentaries saved on my list on Netflix... I think I'm in Madagascar right now. Not watching in any order or anything.

Love that Blue Planet I and II are both available on Netflix. Check out Moving Art. No narrator, just light orchestration. The Oceans episode is UNREAL!

EDIT: Whoops, that episode is good, but I may be thinking of the Underwater episode.

Love those shows too. And that ole female shark has been fun to read about. My daughter lives in Florida and she said it’s like a weekly news update.

I like the old school ones. Now, all of them resort to politics before they are over.

I literally quit watching TV because every show on gets political. Done with it.

Even here on R2R it happens.

Back to reefing and cool animals.

:)

what's good is the great whites are back on the east coast.

Its amazing how much blame is associated to global warming. When pollution and shipping have a far greater impact on coral. So if the temps are rising than pollution will have a greater impact. It is being attacked on all sides

When I did a semester at Sea doin research in the Sargasso Sea and some of the old famous Black Holes made famous Jacques Cousteau we went to look at the evolutionary adaptations of this one form of crustacean with a clear carapace that had now morphed into black caps.

The theory was ... the sargassum was darker green than in the past and these things had “adapted” in reality the numbers were lower and the black capped carapaces were stained from the bilge water fuel mixture being spewed from the ocean liners that was staining the bleeping things and making them easier pickings for birds and other prey. That in turn was messing up the reproductive success of the prey animals. There was and no stricter regulations on dumping bilge in the oceans. But def pollution and abuse are a big issue..

While sailing the ocean for my semester at sea ...we would swim four at a time with one in the crows nest as look out. Once while swimming there was a “pack” of 5 or 6 black tipped reef sharks about 6 foot and when they made one pass it was ok hr then they kept making pass after pass getting closer each time. We had to exit the water but basically there were schools of fish and other marine life swimming in the shadows case by our ship (125 foot two master schooner) that they were after. Very cool experience.

That photo is incredible. I love sharks. Have only seen one in the wild. A small nurse. But, it was still cool.
I saw a small (3 ft?) Black tip reef shark while snorkeling in Maui last year. I tried to swim fast enough to keep up with it since it was just cruising, but they are so fast! Beautiful animal.
