breeding yellow watchman gobies

how do you tell the sex of yellow watchman gobies? we have one that is significantly larger than the other.. and definitely more aggressive & protective of their little tunnels as well as the tiger pistol they are paired with.. the other one is smaller and more ‘laid back’ if this helps with telling the sex of the two. thank y’all in advance!

I don't believe there is a clear way to tell the sex of them. There has been a good bit of speculation on the subject.

Last I heard that was not verified and some said it was the other way around. Others said it did not indicate one way or the other. Just some fish turned more gray.

ive Heard that as well you know how this hobby is people tend to repeat what they hear. I was actually referring to my personal experience i have had several young watchmans that where bright yellow when sub adults then they changed to a light grey and paired up. Never had a successful breeding but many attempts, in the 3 pairs that I’ve had over the years always one very yellow and one gray. again this is just personal observation so take that for what it is.

I had a friend that after much work was able to raise one ywg fry. Then she moved and sold me all her breeding supplies. Sadly I have done nothing with them.
