I am using a calculator for dosing Strontium to my tank. It is calling for 8ml of 100,000 ppm liquid strontium.
BUT - I have a container of Brightwell Strontium P which is 54% strontium (540,000ppm) dry.
So - if I take 100 ml of RODI water and add ?? grams of Strontium P to get a solution that is 100,000ppm?

Depends on if we really mean ppm = mg/kg, not mg/L.

18.5 g solid contains 10 grams = 10,000 mg.

Add that to 100 mL ~ 100 g H2O, then the concentration is 10,000 mg/118.5 grams = 84,388 mg/kg = ppm.

If you want 10,000 mg/L, then one would take that same 18.5 g, dissolve in less than 100 mL, and then add more water up to 100 mL total volume.

I am looking to replace the Isol8 Strontium by ReefBlueprint / CaptivatAquaculture which shows it is 100,000ppm. I have the Brightwell Strontium P on the shelf, so I am trying to dose 8ml of solution that is comparable to the Isol8 Strontium.

I think he wants 100,000ppm. :)

Thank you for correcting me. :)

I understand, but I would not assume they made it correctly to be 100,000 ppm and not 100,00 mg/L.

In fact, they do not know the difference based on their claim what the the product is and what it does:

Just pick either and go with it. You volume measurement isn't exact anyway. lol
