Also, understand that most commercially available "lava rock" is in fact, a silicate slag waste product from iron ore smelting, steel making blast furnaces or silicate type slag from coal-fired electrical generating plants.I have actually worried about the iron didn't think of the magnesium. I believe they are bound in the fused silica and not leaching but am not certain. I need to find out for sure. I have never had iron issues in any of my tanks but it does worry me. I truly had no idea that was a source at all thank you again.
