Hey! Firstly I tested parameters last night and they were beautiful, nitrate is even at 3 ppm, and I fed my tank frozen brine. Woke up and my giant red brittle dropped two legs. They were covered in Nass snails.

I noticed yesterday the snails were harassing the star and stealing food from it. Is it possible to be starving to death? He seemed slow and weak. My tank is only a 20 gal but set up for a while.

I’m scared to feed much because I think that was causing huge phosphate problems. My serpent star has lived many moons in there.

do you have a picture?
He’s not really moving much

Second photo the snails have both legs mostly in the sand already

I try to remember to spot feed my serpent star at least once a month, just to make sure it gets its fair share. Also, not sure if you mix up your food, but frozen brine is the least nutritious food you can feed, mysis is better, reef frenzy is the best.

Thank you! Last three times I’ve gotten myssis it’s all been rotten, but that would definitely be the problem.

Whenever i spot feed my star I get 7 nas swarming it. I’ll try feeding again today
