Our first tank inhabitant seems to be doing well. It’s hiding in the live rock so I guess it has plenty to eat. Was considering getting some meaty food but not sure what type. I’ve put in some phytoplankton and squirted it into the holes in the live rock. Should I feed it directly rather than let it eat whatever it wants? There’s plenty of algae and phytoplankton in the tank and params are good. Any tips would be helpful

You could feed it directly once a week or so if you like. A piece of shrimp, squid or krill would work nicely.
Make the food available to one of the arms and the Brittle star will handle it from there!
