Broodstock Housing for Ocellaris

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get several specimens of Ocellaris as broodstock to grow out and ultimately separate out in pairs once mature.

For the grow out phase, what would be the best approach for housing? Separate them in pairs straight out of the gate or keep several in the one grow out?

Semi Mature should be keep in pairs. Brood stock usually keep in simple tanks where there is not much around to keep the 3rd or 4th fish from the wrath of the pair. They won't grow very much either from the abuse of the pair. You really don't really want more than just one pair of each type because you will have way too many fries from each pair. Good breeding should get 80% survival of the spawn, more than enough where you will never run out of babies to sell. You are going to have to discard many nest because you will be out of room.

Understood. I currently have a pair in a 10g for the last 5 months, but no luck spawning thus far.
They are doing well and interacting fine, but perhaps not mature enough yet.

Feed them GOOD pellets or flakes at least twice a day until they cannot eat any more. Keep the water clean. If they are comfortable they will spawn within 6 months.

LRS started making Fertility Frenzy again. If you can feed your pairs that, it may help. I've had a lot of success with it.
