Hi everyone,

I have had this alveopora for 1,5months now. A part of his skeletal is brown and has no polyp coming out. I noticed it was already like that when I first bought it, but now I see that the brown part is growing in size.
I saw pictures of brown jelly, and I don't think this is it because there is no jelly/slimy part.

Do you know what it is? Is there anything I can do about it?

Exactly that. Skeleton with no tissue growing on it. If it’s getting bigger that means that more tissue is dying.
Thank you for the answer.
Does that mean it needs more food? more light? less light?
Can I remove the dead tissue manually or that would make it worst?

Not a food thing. Don’t need to feed them. Parameters, lighting or flow is where you should you should be looking.

Iodine, manganese and iron IME. Iodine helps if it is an infection and helps the recovery process. Whilst manganese and iron are the key elements that the ‘Flowerpot’ Corals all feed off of.
