So I got this unit used about a year ago and replaced all the filters and has been working great running off the outside spicket at about 80psi. Now that it's to cold to use the outside spicket in new hampshire I hooked it up to a cold water valve hunter my tankless hot worker heater but after running it to fill my brute barrel last night it tests 160ppm. When a week before I ran it off the outside spicket and it was 1ppm. I m going to replace all my filters and membrane this time but, in the first picture all the filters and carbon are brown except the carbon block looks new so is it even going through that chamber? Also does anyone run their ro off a tankless hot water heater? Or is this a bad idea? Attached is a picture of the set up and unfortunately I have no other way of hooking it up

Your filters and DI look almost entirely consumed - if not entirely so. I imagine replacing them would go a long way to helping lower your numbers.

I'm not sure on the hookup - I only recently moved into a place that has a tankless heater and haven't learned much about it yet. I would think that the cold water line would have a check valve of some type. But if not; you may be getting hot (or at least warm) water back-flowing into your unit. Since RO membranes are rated for temps in the 70's (72F, I think?) and have a max in the 110's, if you are getting hotter water into the system, that might explain a jump in numbers as well. Of course - that's just conjecture; you would want to test the water temps you are getting (especially those you get after the heater has run for a bit and then turned off).

you cannot go by looks alone unless it’s a color indicating di cartridge. and do NOT run hot water through it.

when did you last charge your sediment and carbon?
what is your rejection rate?
which do cartridges do you have?

I didnt even think of the hot water back flowing after the unit runs I'll have to check that and yes I know I'm going to swap all the filters and membrane out this week just was weird I was getting 0 to 1 from the last batch and it jumped to 160. In the past it just slowly went up over time also thinking maybe a pressure problem but my gauge no longer works so got one of those coming as well

Never checked the rejection rate lol also for filter I just run the brs 5 stage kit so sediment filter, carbon filter, chlora carbon block, and di resin
