I read somewhere that the orp port can be configured to ph too. That would be helpful for those reefers that run a calcium reactor.

Correct. ORP and pH probes use the same connection and you just configure which one you want

It can. I used mine that way when I had a calcium reactor. My current tank only uses orp because the probe was part of the package. It's only useful to tell you if your tank has significantly elevated dissolved organics (like your kid dumped a whole bottle of food in the tank, or multiple fish died).

Why they didn't go $50 lower in price and gove you the full apex with just pH and temp is confusing.
