BRS Dry Rock

Do you guys do anything to this other then rinse it off when you get it? Should I do an acid bath or is that over kill bc its clearly dry and dusty, so im assuming the advantage of buying this is only needing to rinse it off?

Depends what you got for rock they have many kinds and if your just starting some of the rock i feel helps the cycle like pukani

I got the cheap stuff haha, 200 pounds and also got 100 pounds of the shelf rock. Im thinking of seeding with sand vs rock, seems safer.

just didn't know if I should give the rock an acid bath.

well it depends usually its all good and ready for the most part. You can take the month or two to cook the rock or if you are starting the tank now just put it in. If you search out rock here you can get all sorts of info. For me I just throw it in and cycle the tank. Some have other opinions on cooking first and others would throw it in acid. It is really what you feel you want to do. To me just cycling the tank with it is the same a cook. Just do a 95% water change then wait another week after the levels are stable . This is what I did and I have no issues.

I've used the BRS dry rock in all of my tanks over the last 3 yrs. I just hose them down really well on the driveway then rinse them in ro/di. Never had any problems with this method. I just put 200lbs in my new tank. Salt went in the tank around Oct 10th. Two days later I transferred the rock / livestock from my cube (along with a bottle of bio-spira) and I've had no issues at all.
