BRS Pukani - Curing/Preping - Seaklear

So I have read ALOT of posts and threads on people having leaching phosphate issues with the BRS Pukani rock. I have recently bought a few pieces and need to get an idea of what I should do.

Has anyone used the Seaklear to pull the phosphates out of the rock? If so, it appears that there are several products, which one did you use? And how did you use it?

Any other comments/ideas/advise is appreciated. Thanks!

I cooked my 25# of Pukani for 2wks in a Rubbermaid bin. Added a large bag of carbon for smell and good flow.
2 days before adding it to my tank I did a 75% WC. Almost 2yrs later never had a po4 issue of any kind. No algae growth of any kind. Is now totally covered with purple coralline :)

I really like the Pukani from BRS. But if you don't have (or want to take) the time to cure this rock, I would suggest you do this:

1)Soak it for a day or two to rehydrate the dry stuff that is remaining on the rock.
2) Hose or better, power wash the rock to remove as much or the loose material, as you can.
3) Place the rock in a container and etch it with a mixture of 50/50 vinegar and tap water, with a power head for 24 hours.(Make fresh mixture if done in sections), (more dilution is needed if you go with an acid, i.e. muriatic)
4) Hose or power wash the rock again.
5) Rinse and let it dry for a day.
6) Place it in some freshly made SW with a power head and check for nutrients, i.e. PO4. Do water changes if necessary. Let it cure for a while.

I cured mine in an old 55 I had and did WC's using the water from my DT when I did my WC's . After about 2 weeks my PO4 was about .05 using a Hanna meter.
