BRS reactor?

Has anyone had any good experiences with the Bulk Reef Supply media reactor. I have a 65 gallon and was gonna use the once canister and mix carbon and GFO. Just wondering what you all think about it! Thanks :)

I didn't like the foam pads as they plugged too fast. It was too hard to keep a good consistent flow with the pads in place. After tearing into it a bit and doing some modifications it worked much better. It has since been disconnected from my system and probably will not be reinstalled.

Carbon and GFO require different flow rates for efficiency. I would recommend different reactors for each one, no matter which reactor you go with.

I have the dual reactor and it did take much to get the right flow.. I think it's worth the money.

I hear that having the dual reactor or running 2 Is a little but of overkill for a 65 gallon tank though right?

I don't don't remember the cut off. You can run the single and mix carbon and GFO.. I did that on my 56..

Yeah that's what I was planning on doing. And do you think that mj pump is good for it?

I bought the KIT from BRO and got the Colbot or what ever the one with the kit its and have been using the pump for over a year.. Some say you can get by with a smaller MJ.. With one reactor you will toss out the GFO before it used up.. But it so much easier..

Yeah I think I'll just get the package for like 60 dollars or what ever it is and not by the pump separate. Do you think any other reactors are better than the BRS once like a phosban or vertex?

Take a look at this dual reactor, it has individual ball valves so you can control each chamber independent of the other for best flows for different medias and one or the other can be isolated without affecting the other.

GFO and carbon have both different flow requirements and different lifespans if you want to use them efficiently so you end up throwing one out too soon or stretching one past its uesful life when you combine them in one chamber.

With a 65G you will only need a maximum of 6.5 spoonfulls (65 grams) of GFO full dose so you really do not need a big reactor. They do not require much flow so you would end up valving a MJ1200 back quite a bit. I manifolded two Phosban reactors together with individual valves and use a MJ600 to feed both, a MJ400 works well for a single reactor.

I've only used the single and dual from BRS and they seem to work fine.

Same here, I have used the single reactor with carbon and gfo, not at the same time without any issues. Worked, no leaks, good quality.
