Does anyone know if the whirlpool sediment cartridge and carbon block will fit and work in the brs ro system? I was reading that the brs will accept any standard 10" cartridge
Ditto , filters meant for drinking may not have the same type of carbon or removal capacity . I would stick with filters made for aquariums, even if not brs , although I am a fan of their products and service .
Some things we've noticed about drinking water filters at the big box stores:
many times they don't have the specifications listed on the labels that people in this hobby need/are used to evaluating
expect lower quality filters for higher prices
what many would consider "just fine" for very low capacity (e.g., 12 gpd) drinking water RO systems don't compare well to what people are used to in this hobby.
The filters you'll get from water treatment companies who cater to the marine aquarium world are typically of higher quality and are a much better value that what I see at big/small retail hardware stores.
For instance - you'll not find a 1 micron sediment filter at a hardware store. Chances are that the micron pore size may not even be listed. Likewise for high end (e.g., 0.5 micron) high capacity carbon blocks.
