My protein skimmer randomly stopped working, after assessing there to be no blockage I started looking into the electrical equipment side of it. I noticed that where the wire from the pump that connects to the wire of the wall outlet looks to have some kind of chemical reaction, could this cause the issue with the skimmer and be the reason why it’s not running anymore? I took off the shell and cleaned as much as I could, I even tried dry running it and no luck, so I’m leaning towards this but before snipping and replacing, I’d like to be sure.

Possible. Electrical contact cleaner and a q-tip should clean most od it. Emery cloth or a disposable fingernail file will clean really corroded parts.
Do you have a multi-meter? I would test from the outlet to the motor to see where the voltage drops.

Attempted to clean and sadly that may not be the issue. I don’t have access to a multimeter at the moment but I know where I can find one. I may have to contact the company, hopefully they will have some mercy
