I’ve been left in charge of my teenage daughters marine tank with only her written instructions while she is away for 3 weeks on an outdoor education program with no phones so I can’t ring her to check.

Ive managed to do a water change ok but I’m a bit stuck on the skimmer. It’s a bubble magus qq1. I’ve emptied the tank and filled it with tank water and put my finger over the air lock while turning it on. Initially it looks like it’s working but when I come back to it nothing is collecting in the collection pot so I’m not sure if it is working!

is there a way I can tell if it is working? There is no bubbling

and what is the implication of no skimmer working. Is there a work around for this?

sorry totally out of my depth here and worried I’m going to kill everything in the tank before she gets back!

If you are sure it’s on but it’s not bubbling… my old skimmer I had to blow in the air line to get it started lol. try that….
