Here is the 4 bulb fixture over a 75 mixed reef. All of the 30 + frags are doing awesome; all colorful & sps are showing signs of branching out after a month.

Really like that I moved this fixture over, I'm doing much better with T5 than led lighting.
What fixture is that?

I like that you can see into your overflow, techy. Hopefully algae won’t be a problem in there, but I like it. ;)

Thanks all, I appreciate the comments. I just wanted to share the success with my fixture with the original poster, Ahogue. I really believe one can grow coral without spending crazy dollars on led lighting.

Ive used these Hydrofarm T5 fixtures over all of my tanks.
They have grown SPS, mixed reef and a frag tank.

,

very interesting , im setting up a low boy frag tank 48 x 24 x 10 and looking for a nice cheaper T5 fixture
did you use any of the 6500k bulbs that come with it ? can you run each switch on any kind of timer ?

I like JimmyLee's suggestion - would love to try that light over a frag or display tank.

I was in the same boat as you - I have a Maxspect Razor and wasn't getting the coverage I wanted on my new tank. Added a few retrofit t5's to a canopy I built a few weekends ago and it has been working great alongside the LED so far. We'll see how things shape up as I add coral.

I used to own a farm which is why I found the fixtures to start with. I used the 6500k bulbs to start off all the seedlings before they went into the field.

I did eventually all a reef bright lumi actinic strip that got the blue pop I wanted as well as add a dusk to dawn type of effect.

Regular timers also work great on these fixtures.
