Over-rated Fish in the Hobby

Agreed! I've had two Royal Grammas and they just hung in one place often out of sight.
I’ve have the opposite experience. I have two and they are always swimming up to the front of the tank expecting food and following me around the tank. When I go to drop food in the tank they are right at the surface and almost out of the water!

Blue Hippo tangs
Amen, the one I added to the 180g chewed off the tails on two of my poor engineer gobies, down to the bone. I tore the tank down to remove it, a beautiful color but I'll never have one in anything other than a robust-species FOWLR. My wife was devastated losing those gobies.

especially tomato clowns 😂
I have an unnatural fear of putting my hand in the tank when necessary. The result of saber toothed tomato clowns protecing their anenome 4ft at the other side of the tank from my now 3 fingered hand

I like to think they take joy from the pain of their owners 🤣

I like my clowns! I have a male Mocha Vinci Extreme and a female Ocellaris - no biting, they swim up when I feed them.

For me the overrated fish is my Banggai Cardinal. They just… hang there. Not colorful. Kinda boring. I bought 3 when I started my tank 4 years ago because they reminded me of the freshwater angels I had as a kid. 2 of them paired up and eventually killed the 3rd. Now I’m down to 1 - no idea what happened to the other. No trace that I’ve ever found.

I bought 5. In one day they killed one! Two paired up bit, now a smaller darker toned one bullies and chases the others, especially at feeding time.

Seconding bangai cardinal

When they get bigger they’re really boring

a lot of people would disagree with my most likely but for me six line wrasses cute and adorable at first but they get so mean and end up in peaceful tanks and bully other tank mates
Nope, I think you’re right on point here!
