If I were to get red sea reefer 250 deluxe. Would mag 7 return pump be over kill? Also thinking about octopus 250s skimmer. Also got one of these that's coming Friday.

Also, the Mag 7, depended on your head height should work well, youd be between 390 and 460 gph at 3-5 feet of head pressure. Another suggestion I'd make would be the Sicce Syncra 3.0 That is adjustable from 250-715 gallons per hour. Its the one I currently use on my 40 breeder and love it :)

The price isn't that much more so yes I would go with that. What you think of the skimmer?

Got the tank put up...have a hard time putting the tubing on the return pump with the tubing that was provided. Gonna have to get a different tubing.

    Looks nice!

Is it close, but not quite right, tubing size-wise? Maybe heat it up in some hot water and shove it on?

I've done that many times. A microwave and a coffee cup works perfectly.

Agreed, I have been doing a lot of my plumbing with flex pipe- started with hot water then switched to a heat gun and a spritz of cooking spray- slides right on and when cools impossible to get off-

I'm going to do that tomorrow morning but I'm still gonna put a hose clamp on regardless. Don't want to take the risk of it falling off.

Yes, DEFINITELY clamp them- besides coming off they will leak if you don’t.
