Building the perfect Clown/Anemone setup

I wish he would get a pair of clown fish in this but there are just way to many anemones!!!

I'm still reading through all the clown/anemone threads here and on other sites, but thought I'd start a discussion as well.

If you were going to build a clown/anemone tank from scratch, how would you do it? What equipment/lights/systems would you get and in what order would you add them? Besides the clown fish, what other stock would you get to help balance and maintain the tank?

We are most likely go to have a 72"x24"x24" tank, so keep that in mind please for this discussion.

Hi Keith. so from the discussions so far.. what have you learned that will help give you the most chance in building your dream clownfish/nem tank? just looking to find out what the plans are for now. I know it might change again but it's always exciting for me when I see another clownfish/nem tank in the making. ;)

I'll write out the things I've learned so far when I have a bit more time. I can see now that my biggest hurtle now is going to be the wife. I took her to look at marine stores yesterday and she really loves the coral reef tanks! LOL Is is also concerned with how long it will take to make the tank look good. I've been trying to find a thread that shows FTS of an nem tank at certain time intervals from the start date (like AquaVoryeur did in his first post of his tank build). This concern is also leading her to rethink doing a big tanks since it will take longer to look good/mature.

ah.. I see. I guess we all struggle with the "patience" part of the hobby to some degree. ;)

either way, whichever route you go.. at least you do your research and learn before jumping in. :)

Yeah, I'm fine with the patience part... at least with the part after getting the equipment (I just want to get started with the tank setup already! lol). The wife is content to wait months and months before setting one up, but she wants it to look pretty the day after it finishes cycling! Oh the joys!
