Been using them since they brought them in. I’ve used over a dozen of them. Most sold as I changed systems. I had one fail at like 12-18 months and they replaced it no questions asked.

Paired with an Aqua Logic controller is nearly bulletproof IME

Brs heaters are rebranded German made Schego titanium heaters. Best in the industry imo. You’ll need a controller for them like an inkbird. I have a 200ish gallon system and run 2x 300w heaters
Yahbi have a 180g was fogring 2 of their 300w. The controller they sell works to control them yes?

Yes the brs controller is an inkbird. They used to rebrand those as well but idk if they still do. I have 4 no issues with them. The WiFi is nice and probably to most common heater controller.

The aqualogic ones as mentioned before are the most bulletproof and more expensive, as they’re a rebranded Ranco which is hvac industrial grade.

Probably way more info than you were seeking lol

I've seen some "rumors" they need to be replaced every three years or so, Again, this is anecdotal, no I cannot provide sources :D
I use one, so those rumors don't impact what I truly think of them.

You can get an aqualogic on ebay for under $200. I have bought several, new and used on ebay.

That basically coincides with their warranty but I believe even BRS recommends to change them out once a year as a precaution for all heater brands.

I have them in a few tanks running on inkbirds that were purchased separately. I started using them shortly after release. My memory is poor and I don't remember what sizes I'm using or even which tanks have them. I do know I had one fail off. I didn't bother with warranty because I wasn't sure how long I had it. I have 5 tanks running and heaters don't get replaced unless they fail. Not a recommendation but it's how I roll. I don't work or travel so I'm never away from home more than a few hours at a time. I also have a box full of heaters to use in an emergency so a failure for me isn't normally going to be a catastrophic event like it would for someone who is away a lot and doesn't keep spare heaters on hand.

If you run one heater vs redundant multiple heaters, yes change when the warranty expires. Keep the replaced heater as an on hand backup, mixing station or QT.

Of course a company that sells you heaters is going to recommend buying new annually

I use four of them on my 100 EXT primary and secondary on two Ranco controllers. I remove one from each controller when the required heat input is lower. I had one replaced under warranty

Curious, why so many? I run 1 300 watt on my ext 112 paired to an aqualogic.

Redundancy is why I use two Rancos. Each Ranco is on a different electrical circuit and two heaters on each Ranco is so I can reduce the wattage when I do not need as much heat in the summer.

Must be cold in the winter then. My heaters do not run for 6 months and are only on during the winter. No need to adjust as temps run 78-80 in the summer and are set to 77 year round.
