This has been a very bad week for my husband and I. The day after Christmas we found out that my father inlaw was in the hospital. We didn't go over that day, no one knew how sick this man was. Then 2 days after Christmas we get a call he had went down hill quick. So we made a ad dash over to Tampa. We walk into the hospital to be told they was moving him out of ICU into hospice. My father inlaw passed away New Years Eve. The funeral was yesterday. We are thankful he isn't suffering like he was. We just got home today.

In no comparision to losing my father inlaw. I came home to a crashed zoo and paly tank. I lost all my christmas present from my hubby. I lost my Rastas, red Wines, Cats eyes, Headless horseman, mohawks, Nuclear Greens and Aussie rainbows. Plus I had bam bams and several other colonies.

Thank you for reading this I just had to vent.

Sorry to hear for your loss on both levels. My grandmother just pased away before christmas. Was a weird holiday season this year, wasn't as cheerful as usual.

wow......very sorry to hear about your losses.

hopefully some may learn from your misfortunes and realize they should put more money into being able to make a reef that can sustain itself for a little while on its own......instead of pouring money into corals.

FWIW........hopefully there are some generous reefers here who could help you out with some replacements. i know i would if i still had a zoa collection.

also.....its suprising that the crash killed the zoas. usually zoas can tolerate allot of tank crashes as long as the temperature isn't out of whack.

I am sorry I figured my system of 200 gallons of water, 120 display, 55 gallon zoo and paly tank and 45 gallon sump. I have a euro reef skimmer (I think it is a cs135, i know that is a little small but I have read where other people had it on a 200 gallon system) for lights on the display I have 2 X 250 Doubled ended HQI MH and 2 54 HO T5 antics. On the 55 On HO T5's.

This is what I thik happened. I had a little hair algae problem before I left. My timer also blew out over the cHristmas holidays. So Before we left my husband rushed out and got one. He hooked it up. Last night I was waiting on the lights to go out, Well they didn't. What happened is the algae got so bad on the egg crate in my 55 it floated to the top all my palys and zoos was out of water. That is where they all was when I got home. The day I left I got a tang before we found out about everything. Well my Archilles tang doesn't like hair algae. I am very discouraged right at this time. I truly figured I had a good enough system to keep palys and zoos beings as I have some living fine in the 120.

I am sorry for lashing out. I am very fustrated. The paly zoo tank hasn't been set up that long, since the end of August. I have been fight the algae blooms of a new tank. I have both tanks hooked up together thru my sump. My 120 doesn't have the algae bloom just the 55.

The stress level right now here is real high.

I dont think it was a lash out really. I think the post about spending money on equipment instead of coral was inaproproate. It's real easy to assume that that was the problem.

Thank you, I am very proud of my system. It took me over a year to get it before it ever had any water in it. My husband told me to get my dream system but he limited the display to 120 gallons. We just got a piece a payday. Since then I was able to talk him into the 55 gallon tank. In March my main part of the system has been up and running for 2 years.

As it turned out I only ended up losing the bambams, the Headless Horseman and a couple other no names. I guess I jumped the gun and said they was all dead. It has been a bad time around here.
