Button polyps

I know this sounds bad but i added a small plug of button polyps 3 yrs ago i put them on my best looking pcs of live rock. Now 3 yrs later they have taking over the whole rock you cant even see the rock any more. Is there any way to get rid off them my tank now is more higher end coral and i need the extra room on that rock.
I'm looking for the best way to get rid of them

I was able to pull the rock out and was going to boil but before i did i went and hit it with a water hose and the polyps mat just started pulling off. After i got the polyps off i put it in a tub of salt water for a few minutes. Everything seems fine now
