Buying Used Apex - How to reset?

Hi All,
I'm about to get a used Apex from someone local (and I've never used one). Do I need to have him reset it somehow? Will I be able to set it up on my network / create my own login/account if he doesn't? I mean, would I need his login / password (but still not able to get in since it isn't on his network)? Or is there just a hard reset that can be done on the Apex itself? Thanks,

Which model apex?

Sorry, thought I included that. Current model (2016?). The owner said he started the reset process but hadn't reconnected to his WiFi yet. He sent me a manual, so maybe I'll be able to figure it out. I just didn't want to buy it and then find out I was completely locked out of it. Thx,

This will do it. There's no sim lock or activation locks on them like smartphones, but you will have to ask the previous owner to remove it from their fusion account so you can use it.

That link is outdated information, although it might work if the apex in question is running a really old AOS.
