Just wondering what others do. I would think it's everything they used to build it the first time but I debate if it might also have bad things that could get reintroduced as well? Like I don't really use my extra macro growth to feed fish as the whole point of removing nutrients (or anything else) would be null by putting it back into the system. For example.

I typically stick to reborn media but I have a large pile of skeletons from fragging branching LPS and birdsnest, monti caps etc. Not really any other use for it.

I'll give you a bump and hazard a guess, since I don't have a reactor myself, but if you have old coral skeleton I say break it up and toss it in. The pH is likely too low for any dormant bacteria or anything to survive.

If something was missing from your tank old skeletons wont provide it. A few is no biggie but i would worry with 50% or more.
